The KHSAA Board of Control approved a measure today in which the Girls Sweet 16 will begin play in Rupp Arena in 2019. It had been previously announced that the tournament would be played in Rupp in 2019 and 2020, but it will now also be played there in 2021 and 2022.
The Boys Sweet Sixteen will be played March 5-10 in 2019 with the girls’ tournament to follow the next week from March 12-17.In 2020 the girls’ tournament would be played first – March 10-15 – with the boys’ tournament to run from March 17-22.
The KHSAA previously voted to start the 2020-21 season one week early due to a scheduling conflict with Rupp Arena. The 2021 Boys Sweet Sixteen will run from March 2-7 with the girls’ tournament to go from March 9-14.
The 2022 Girls tournament will be held March 8-13 with the boys’ event to go from March 15-20.
