Proceedings were continued in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon for attempted murder and assault suspect Jaylynn Cheatham.
Cheatham appeared virtually before Judge Andrew Self, who informed him that his new attorney David Rye had requested the continuance as he awaits both more evidence to be turned over and for a new indictment in the case.
Judge Self set a pretrial hearing for July 26, saying hopefully any new indictments will be in by that time.
Cheatham is facing charges of two counts of first-degree assault, four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and attempted murder. He is accused of shooting 20-year old Darrius Quarles of Hopkinsville and 38-year old Bryan Jones of Cadiz in April at a gas station on East Ninth Street. Windows of the gas station were shot out and 21 bullet fragments were recovered by investigators.
