The Hopkinsville Police Department arrested two Hopkinsville residents Monday and they are facing numerous charges.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to a Tennessee Street residence for reports that a wanted person, Crime Stoppers Fugitive of the Week 20-year old Benjamin Kelly of Hopkinsville, was at that location.  Upon arrival, contact was made with 25-year old Gage Mulhall, also of Hopkinsville, who told officers that he and a woman were the only ones in the home.  He reportedly told officers he wasn’t allowed to be around Kelly and gave officers permission to search the home, and during the search Kelly was found allegedly hiding under a blanket in a bedroom.

Kelly reportedly gave officers a false name of Damian Waters and Mulhall allegedly said he only knew him as “D”.  Kelly was arrested on strength of a warrant for first-degree burglary, which states that he and Mulhall allegedly entered a business in November, while armed with a firearm.  Kelly allegedly pried a hole in a wall of sheet metal to get into the business.  They reportedly stole a laptop, safe and a work truck.

While driving away from the scene, Mulhall allegedly struck a chain link locked gate at the business, while Kelly was riding in the back of the truck.  Kelly reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries at that time and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

Kelly was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, giving officers a false name and failure to appear.  Gage was charged with hindering prosecution or apprehension.
