HPD: Man assaulted family, officers in Norman Dale Drive incident

A Hopkinsville man is facing multiple charges, following investigation into a disturbance on Norman Dale Drive Monday night. 

According to the report from Hopkinsville police, officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Norman Dale around 8:45 p.m. and investigation determined that 33-year-old Matthew Naylor of Hopkinsville was threatening to harm himself, and got a hold of a handgun belonging to his brother.  He fired a single shot that went through the ceiling and into another residence occupied by four people. 

A physical altercation began between Naylor and his family members as they attempted to take the gun from him.  When officers arrived, Naylor allegedly refused to put his infant son down before attempting to jump out of a window.  He was stopped and taken into custody, where he allegedly resisted arrest, kicking officers and biting another.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault, kidnapping, third-degree assault of a police officer, second-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, using restricted ammunition during commission of a felony, resisting arrest and retaliating against a participant in the legal process.
