The community is invited to a Collaborative Combined Leadership Meeting on behalf of the Christian County Public School System on Monday, to discuss what they would like to see happen in the school system.
Nichole Poindexter is the Full-Service Community Schools Director and appeared on WHOP Friday to invite parents, community members and students to attend the meeting set for 6 p.m. Monday at Virginia Street Baptist Church, saying they’re looking for input and ideas from the community they serve.
Christian County was awarded a grant through the Pritchard Committee, which is designed to champion community-led educational solutions tailored specifically for Kentucky students and their families. Poindexter says they will take the information and ideas from the meeting and create an action plan on how best to utilize the grant and the program.
Poindexter says they’re looking to make a bold feature, and by following the Pritchard Committee model, they can create both a stronger school system and community.
When implemented effectively, the community schools’ model has been proven to boost student outcomes, increase college enrollments, and contribute to the overall well-being of students, especially in high-poverty schools.
