(Pittsburgh, PA)  — The Cardinals scored four runs in the top of the ninth to beat the Pirates 4-3 in Pittsburgh.  Albert Pujols put the Cardinals on top with his 697th career home run, and Tyler O’Neill launched his 14th long ball of the season to give St. Louis an insurance run.  Chris Stratton picked up his eighth win in relief, and Ryan Helsley earned his 16th save.  The Cardinals hold an eight-game lead over the Brewers in the NL Central race.  Jack Suwinski and Greg Allen each went deep in the losing effort.  Chase De Jong was charged with his second loss out of the bullpen.  Pittsburgh has dropped four of five.

(Pittsburgh, PA)  — Baseball slugger Albert Pujols is moving up MLB’s all-time home runs list.  In Sunday’s win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, the St. Louis Cardinal great hit his 697th career long ball.  That moves him into sole possession of fourth place, passing Alex Rodriguez.  The 42-year-old Pujols still trails Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds, whose 762 home runs are the most all-time.  Pujols is expected to retire after this season.

>>Reds Lost Series Against Brewers After 7-6 Defeat

(Cincinnati, OH)  — The Reds let one get away after their rally ran dry in a 7-6 loss to the Brewers.  The team trailed 7-4 heading into the top of the ninth until Spencer Steer scored on an error to cut the deficit to two.  T-J Friedl hit a sacrifice fly to put Cincy within one, but Devin Williams recovered and earned the save.  Alejo Lopez hit a homer and drove in three runs for the Reds who dropped two-of-three in the series.  The team will try and bounce back tonight as they host the Pirates in the first of three games.

(Chicago, IL)  — The Cubs managed just two runs on 12 hits in a 4-2 loss to the Giants at Wrigley Field.  Zach McKinstry had four hits, while Seiya Suzuki launched his 13th home run.  Hayden Wesneski was charged with his first loss in relief as the Cubs dropped to 58-and-82.  The Cubs send Javier Assad to the mound against the Mets tonight.  In other team news, the Cubs inducted former outfield Jose Cardenal and radio announcer Pat Hughes into the team Hall of Fame over the weekend.

(Seattle, WA)  — The Braves gave up two home runs in the ninth as they fell 8-7 to the Mariners in Seattle.  Michael Harris the second homered twice for Atlanta.  Austin Riley and Robbie Grossman also went yard for the Braves.  Kenley Jansen took the loss for Atlanta, which is 87-and-53.  The Braves visit the Giants tonight.
