Sunday is the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America that changed the country forever, and the local Veterans of Foreign War Post 1913 is hosting its annual memorial service.
The ceremony is set to begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the VFW location off of Skyline Drive in Hopkinsville, and Commander John Brame says they’ll have a brief service remembering and honoring those who lost their lives that day in 2001.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania on that day and Brame says it’s important to never forget the loss of life, both then and in the war that followed.
The event will be outdoors, as following the service there will be a balloon release.
