Ky. gains 12,830 COVID-19, positivity rate drops

Kentucky reported 12,830 new cases of COVID-19 in the last week, but the positivity rate has dropped back below 20 percent.

There were 78 newly reported deaths, bringing the death toll in the Commonwealth up to 16,757 since the pandemic began. The positivity rate is now at 18.40 percent, down from the 20.07 percent it was a week ago, hopefully showing that the state is in a plateau or even in a decline for new cases.

There are 629 individuals in the hospital with COVID-19, 102 in the ICU and 36 on a ventilator.
