MORNING SPORTS BRIEFS 5/16/22

NFL

NBC is continuing to shake up its broadcast team for the upcoming NFL season. According to the New York Post, former quarterback Drew Brees is done announcing football games for NBC after one season. Brees had agreed to a deal as an analyst with the network before his career with the New Orleans Saints was finished. Brees wrote on Twitter that he is undecided about his future. Cris Collinsworth remains the top analyst for Sunday Night Football broadcasts, with Mike Tirico taking over play-by-play duties for Al Michaels.

PGA Tour

For the second year in a row K.H. Lee is coming away as the winner of the AT&T Byron Nelson. Lee finished atop the leaderboard after shooting a 63 in the final round to finish 26 under par. Lee finished one stroke ahead of Jordan Spieth.
Hideki Matsuyama and Sebastian Munoz finished tied for third place at 24 under par. Xander Schauffele, Ryan Palmer, and Justin Thomas rounded out the top five after finishing the tournament 23 under.

NASCAR

Kurt Busch did just enough to win the NASCAR Cup Series Race at Kansas. Busch was able to pass Kyle Larson to pick up his first win of the season. Larson finished in second while Kyle Busch finished third. Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell rounded out the top five.
