McConnell Urges Biden To Name Russia State Terrorism Sponsor

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky wants President Biden to name Russia a state sponsor of terrorism.

McConnell told reporters traveling with him in Stockholm on Sunday that designation would lift sovereign immunity protections shielding Russia from being sued for civil damages.

The Kentucky Republican said Biden “could do it on his own” and urged him to do it.  McConnell was in Stockholm after visiting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday in Kyiv.

He assured Zelensky that support for the war-torn nation is bipartisan and said, “This naked aggression must not stand.”
