A Cadiz woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday morning on US 68 in Trigg County.
Kentucky State Police investigated and determined 81-year old Freda Oakley of Cadiz was traveling south on Merchant Street and drove into the path of a westbound pickup operated by 39-year old Jamie Gapp of Cadiz as she tried to cross US 68.
Gapp was unable to avoid a collision and struck Oakley’s car in the rear driver’s side.
Oakley was taken by EMS to Trigg County Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Gapp was transported by EMS to Trigg County Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and his 20-month old passenger was taken by private vehicle to the same hospital to be checked out.
Oakley and Gapp had been wearing their seat belts and the minor was properly restrained in a rear-facing child restraint device, according to KSP.
