Woman hurt in two-vehicle East Ninth Street collision

A woman was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash on East Ninth Street.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department report, a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Samual Wright of Hopkinsville was heading east on East Ninth Street, when he reportedly attempted to hang up a phone call that he had had on speaker while driving.  He reportedly told officers he had looked down for just a moment, and when he looked up the car in front of him had slowed down and he was unable to avoid a collision.

The vehicle operated by 65-year-old Walter Victor of Hopkinsville had slowed down to make a turn and also attempted to avoid a collision when he saw Wright’s not slowing down behind him, but was unsuccessful.

A passenger in Victor’s vehicle, 49-year-old Angelique Victor, was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical for reports of knee and back pain.  Wright and Walter Victor were not injured.
