Local young artists unveil mural on East Sixth Street in Hopkinsville

Hopkinsville is home to a new mural, as a group of local students painted a wall on East Sixth Street downtown as part of a summer art camp.

A group of 12 youth took on the project, led by local artist Jennifer Bowman and organized by Pennyroyal Arts Council Arts Education Coordinator Molly Campbell, who says that during some of the hottest days of the summer they completed the art work—a stylized “Hoptown” across the wall of the Bella Marie Boutique.

Bowman says it was a new experience for everyone involved, and she was honored to watch these students get to grow both as artists and as friends.

Eva Blankenburger was one of the participating students, and says she was excited at the thought of being able to do a mural, as she’s been a student of art since she was small.

A list of the young artists can be found by the mural, and it’s their hope that people will see it and smile, or stop to take pictures, and just enjoy a small piece of downtown Hopkinsville that they helped create.
