CCPS students to attend prestigious Boy’s State program

Twenty-one Christian County Public School System students have been selected and will attend the prestigious 2019 Kentucky Boy’s State program.

According to a news release, the 84 year-old program is designed to train Kentucky youth in the fundamentals of good citizenship and governmental operations. Participants are put into intensive practices of the theories of American government through the actual operation of city, county and state offices. Students benefit from the network of peers, and ready themselves for whatever post-high school goals they have.

The program takes place June 3 through the 7 on the campus of Campbellsville University. Students representing Hopkinsville High School are Denarius Barnes, Maxwell Bauserman, Javier Bland, Xavier Bussell, Jaxon Davis, Joshua Deeds, Tyler Greenwell, Tayshawn Head, Latham Joiner, Conner Lackey, Dustyn Miltenberger, Keane Mumford, Joseph Nguyen, William Mason Rye, Chase Shannon, and Donquavion Victor. Christian County High School seniors selected are Justin Adams, Ajani Cooke, Ian Gentry, Landon Haile, and John Schmitt.

Alumni of Boy’s State programs include former President Bill Clinton, astronaut Neil Armstrong and former Vice President Dick Cheney.
