HCCPL celebrating National Library Week

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is celebrating National Library Week this Sunday through Saturday.

The library staff is inviting the community to join them for coffee and donuts on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the lobby. Executive Director DeeAnna Sova says in a news release “We are proud to serve the community of Christian County and look forward to new opportunities to engage patrons in literacy and learning.”

National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. This year’s theme, Libraries equal Strong Communities, is meant to illustrate how libraries are at the heart of cities, towns, schools and campuses, providing critical resources, programs and expertise.

While Kentucky statewide averages a 7% decrease in circulation statistics, the local library statistics reflect a 17.9% increase in circulation statistics. Sova says, “Our public library is an integral piece of our community. Public and private education sectors are reaching out to partner with us through our services and programs. We average approximately 9,000 patron visits each month that are utilizing the library as a resource.”
