Man arrested on gun, marijuana trafficking charges

A traffic stop on the Pennyrile Parkway Monday afternoon led to the arrests of a man and juvenile on multiple charges.

Hopkinsville Police Officer Gary Hicks clocked 21-year old Shaveon Richardson of Lexington speeding and recognized the vehicle as having previously being involved in trafficking narcotics and gang activity, according to the report.

Police say Richardson was observed reaching under his seat and appeared to be nervous.

A K9 alerted on the vehicle and a search allegedly revealed about a pound and a half of marijuana in a backpack and two handguns loaded with hollow point bullets under Richardson’s seat.

Richardson was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, use of restricted ammunition during commission of a felony, tampering with evidence, unlawful transaction with a minor and speeding.

The juvenile was also arrested.
