Group opposing Oak Grove racetrack to host town hall meeting

A group opposed to building a horse racing track and gambling parlor in Oak Grove will host a town hall meeting next week in Hopkinsville and Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton is expected to attend.

The Commonwealth Policy Center is hosting the gathering at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 31st at Edgewood Baptist Church on Cadiz Road.

Calling the joint venture between Keeneland and Churchill Downs a ‘casino,’ an email from CPC Executive Director Richard Nelson says attendees will discuss the negative impacts facility could have on people in Christian County.

The racetrack and gambling parlor featuring historic racing machines could open later this year near the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Thompsonville Lane.
