An autopsy on a teen found deceased in Madisonville Thanksgiving week has determined a cause of death.
Hopkins County Coroner Dennis Mayfield’s report determined 13-year old Malik Stafford of Madisonville drowned on November 23rd. The manner of death is undetermined, according to a news release.
Stafford’s body was discovered in a shallow creek near his grandmother’s home at the Cross Creek Apartments on November 23rd.
A family member told WEVV TV that the family was celebrating Thanksgiving when Malik went outside to play. He said Malik’s parents thought he had been out for too long, so they went looking for him. When they found Malik he was unresponsive.
