Guthrie PD swears in Sgt., hopes to have K9 unit on road by spring of 2019

The Guthrie Police Department plans to have a K9 unit next year and Mayor Scott Marshall swore in the officer who will handle the dog Thursday morning.

Sgt. Kevin Saunders comes to Guthrie from the Todd County Sheriff’s Department and previously served with the Logan County Sheriff’s Department.

Chief Dean Blumel says a cash donor made the purchase of a K9 possible and he hopes to have the dog with Sgt. Saunders by the spring of 2019.
