Road conditions improve, power restored to many after freezing rain

Road conditions have improved since the morning and Pennyrile Electric has made significant progress in restoring power after freezing rain caused problems across the southern Pennyrile region Wednesday night.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 6 p.m., with very light additional accumulations of snow or ice possible through the afternoon.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet conducted spot treatment of bridges and overpasses throughout the morning after numerous wrecks happened on the icy surfaces.

Motorists should continue to use caution and to be on the lookout for black ice on elevated surfaces until temperatures warm above freezing.

Meanwhile, Pennyrile Electric had reduced the total number of members without power to just over 800 by about 11:30 a.m.

The outage map showed 189 of those members were in Christian County, 185 were in Todd and 430 were in Logan County.
