Hopkinsville Veterans Day Parade coming up Saturday

The annual Veterans’ Day parade is coming up on Saturday and the public is invited to attend and celebrate local veterans.

Speaking with WHOP News, VFW Commander John Brame says the parade starts at 10 a.m. at the War Memorial Building, there will be float for veterans who would like a ride, and concludes at the Christian County Justice Center.

He says they’ll give awards for most sidewalk saluters and announce the winner of the Mayor’s JROTC Challenge at a brief service at the Justice Center.

Brame says following the parade, the VFW will have their annual Veteran’s Day service where people can hear several students read their award winning Patriot Pen and Voice of Democracy essays.

Brame says over a dozen students entered the essay contest. The parade is hosted by Veterans of Foreign War Post 1913, the City of Hopkinsville, Christian Fiscal Court and the Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee. Veterans who wish to be in the parade are asked to meet at the War Memorial Building at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
