Unemployment fell or stayed the same in seven of nine Pennyrile counties from August to September.
Christian County’s September jobless rate was 5.4 percent, down a tenth of a point from August and the same as one year ago. It equated to 1,384 people who were looking for work, but who were unable to find it.
Todd County had the Pennyrile’s lowest jobless rate at 3.6 percent, but was edged out by a tenth of a point by Calloway County for lowest in western Kentucky. It was still two tenths lower than the August rate and one tenth higher than a year ago.
Trigg County’s jobless rate was stagnant from August to September at 4.3 percent, down from 5.1 percent in September 2017.
Muhlenberg County had western Kentucky’s highest unemployment at 6.1 percent.
