21 teams compete in Freedom Friday Chili Cook-Off

Rain showers didn’t stop twenty-one teams from competing for the title of Best Chili and a $1,000 grand prize Friday for the Christian County Chamber of Commerce Chili Cook-Off.

The public was able to sample a variety of different chili, and a slew of other family activities, including kid zones, truck tours, and live music with the 101st Airborne Division Brass Band. Military Affairs Committee Director Lindsey Geraci says they put on the chili cook-off to salute Fort Campbell and support military families in the community.

She says all the money raised will go back to the committee to fund their programs and to support a specific military group.

Hopkinsville Board of Realtors was the grand champion winner, Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority took first place, Town and Country Realty was second place and the best decorated winner, Junior Auxiliary was third and Fort Campbell’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment was crowd favorite.

The event coincided with the scheduled City of Hopkinsville’s Fridays at Five.
