Justice Cabinet training crime victims’ advocates in western Ky. this week

The Kentucky Justice Cabinet has been hosting the Kentucky Victim Assistance Academy this week at Kenlake State Park.

Secretary John Tilley says the training is for all types of advocates and agencies who provide services to victims of serious crimes in Kentucky.

He notes that some child victims who do not receive the proper counseling and services during their youth can grow up to become offenders themselves.

Secretary Tilley says the training covers numerous facets of the justice system from the victim’s perspective.

The Justice Cabinet says the academy focuses on understanding the crime victim’s experience while also emphasizing the importance of continuum of care, networking across disciplines, and quality mentorship.
