Hopkinsville Police are investigating a shots fired incident and a wreck that happened late Sunday night on Mechanic Street.
Officer Justin Rios says there was no evidence anyone was injured by the gunfire and that the occupants of the overturned vehicle had fled the scene prior to police arrival.
He says detectives are following up on leads to determine what led up to the shooting incident.
An accident report says the SUV involved in the accident had been headed south at a high rate of speed when it left the side of the road and struck the front porch at 151 Mechanic. It continued south and struck the porch at 155 Mechanic.
Support poles were knocked off of both porches and the vehicle came to rest on its side. A loaded handgun was located in the vehicle.
