Woman killed, 4-year old hurt in Hopkins Co. wreck

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a two-vehicle collision that killed a Dawson Springs woman Tuesday.

According to a news release, deputies responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of Charleston Road and Niles Road. Investigation determined that a truck driven by 55-year old Ronald Burton of Woodburn was travelling south on Charleston Road while pulling a large trailer.

A vehicle operated by 23-year old Tika Brothers of Dawson Springs reportedly pulled into Burton’s path and the two collided in the intersection. Brothers and her four-year old passenger were transported by helicopter for serious injuries.  Brothers would later be declared deceased at Baptist Health Hospital.

The four-year old is reported to be in stable condition at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Burton was transported for treatment of minor injuries.
