Christian Fiscal Court unanimously approved final reading of an ordinance Tuesday morning to keep property tax rates the same.
The tax rate on real property will remain 18.7 cents per $100 of assessed value and it will stay an even 20 cents on tangible property.
District 5 Magistrate Rich Liebe is pleased the county is in a situation to maintain its commitments without raising taxes.
Also happy with maintaining the same rate is District 1 Squire Kenny Bates.
The meeting fell on the 17th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States and Judge-Executive Steve Tribble recalled hearing about the first plane crashing just before the fiscal court meeting that morning and finding a changed world when it adjourned.
In other action, magistrates approved a resolution to apply for an $8,700 Homeland Security grant that would purchase 15 sets of body armor for the Christian County Sheriff’s Department.
