The United Way of the Pennyrile serves dozens of agencies year round in Christian, Todd, Trigg and Caldwell counties, and next week is the official fundraising campaign kickoff.
Appearing on WHOP News recently, United Way President Annie Catron says the public is invited to attend the breakfast at the Senior Citizen’s Center on September 13, although she does ask that people RSVP.
Campaign Co-Chair Chris Gilkey says this year’s theme, “Dynamic Duos: The United Way and You” has the potential to be a lot of fun but the main goal is to raise enough money to help all those in need.
Co-Chair Russ Guffey says just through the PACs Meals on Wheels program, over 90,000 meals were served in the four county area.
Many employee pacesetter campaigns are already underway so Catron is hopeful they will have a good kickoff amount already when they announce the 2018 fundraising goal.
Catron says if every resident in Todd, Trigg and Caldwell County donated just $5, it would fund the agencies supported by the United Way in those counties. She says that number goes up to $10 in Christian County from each resident, which would fund food, tutoring and a slew of other programs offered by United Way agencies.
