Attorney General presents check to Children’s Advocacy Center

Attorney General Andy Beshear made a stop in Hopkinsville Thursday to deliver a $3,525 check to the Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center to help in their mission of helping children.

The advocacy center provides support to children in the nine-county Pennyrile region that are victims of sexual abuse, along with their non-offending family members. It provides a safe, child-friendly place for the victims to be interviewed about the abuse that isn’t a police station or courtroom.

Attorney General Beshear presented the check, saying without the staff, too many children would go unheard and stay in dangerous situations.

He says the money will go towards paying for medical examinations and it will help bring justice to those who need it most.

Executive Director Candra Barnett thanked the Attorney General’s office, staff and community members for their continued support to the cause.

Beshear spoke about the training his office has hosted in Kentucky to teach people about the warning signs to look for concerning abuse and human trafficking, detailing the arrests that have been made to stop those who would hurt children.
