The Clarksville Police Department recently used a unique method to connect with some of the people it serves.

The Keesee Barbershop on College Street hosted the department’s third Chat and a Cut Saturday.

A news release says it’s a way for the Clarksville Police Department to reach out to the community and meet citizens in a comfortable, non-threatening environment.  The chief and several other officers were at the shop with coffee and donuts ready to meet and talk with patrons.

Police say the conversations covered a wide variety of topics such as consolidation, recruitment of minorities, ways to improve relations and some of the perceptions in the community about law enforcement.

Many children also arrived, spoke with the officers and received some of the treats the department provided.
