HPD receives Accreditation Award

The Hopkinsville Police Department is the recent recipient of a five-year Accreditation Award by the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police.

According to a news release, departments have to be reaccredited every four years in order to maintain the award. The association examines agency policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services, which establishes that the agency was carefully measured against an established set of standards and has met or exceeded professionally accepted practices in law enforcement.

The requirements include an on-site assessment of the department ensuring its policies and procedures are compliant with 171 professional standards needed to achieve accreditation.
