Hopkinsville High School welcomes new principal

Hopkinsville High School welcomed the new principal Wednesday afternoon with a reception in the school’s cafeteria.

Teachers, community members and others from the school district greeted Dr. John Gunn to the high school, who describes himself as a career educator. Dr. Gunn got to meet with many students recently and says loves their enthusiasm and wants to listen to what their needs are while he works to revive school spirit and a sense of unity.

He says the support he has received has been tremendous and as for what he wants the students to know—he says be excited for education.

Dr. Gunn has 33 years of experience in school systems in Tennessee and North Carolina, most recently serving as Associate Director of Schools in Lawrence County, Tennessee. He says he looks forward to working with a community that is obviously proud of its schools and to helping the students succeed.

He replaces former principal Todd Marshall, who resigned earlier this year.
