A suspect has been charged in connection with a series of incidents Sunday on Hilltop Drive.

Charged with first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree burglary and public intoxication is 41-year old Sean Phillip Lamberson of Hopkinsville.

The citation says officers were called to the area of 406 Hilltop about 12:50 p.m. to check the welfare of a suspicious person and were flagged down by a female victim who said Lamberson had forced his way into her home.

Police say Lamberson placed aerosol cans in a microwave and turned it on, likely in an attempt to set the home on fire. Further investigation determined Lamberson had also damaged a 1979 Chevy Corvette in the area as he broke into the car in an attempt to steal it.

Lamberson admitted to using methamphetamine and police say he was manifestly under the influence of a substance.

He was injured during the course of the incidents and was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center. An on call judge advised police to cite him into court.

A vacant home at 219 Hilltop was heavily damaged by fire during the same time period, but that incident is not mentioned on the citation. That fire is being investigated by the Hopkinsville Police and Fire departments.
