Photo from last year’s National Day of Prayer observance
Thursday is the National Day of Prayer and there will be several local observances.
Second Baptist Church will host its annual service from 12 until 1 p.m. Thursday. There have traditionally been several speakers who have led the entire crowd in prayer for the various aspects of the community, but Pastor David Tucker says this year’s program will be a little different.
He says the service is a time for the community to unify.
The service has been well-attended in the past and the church provides a sack lunch to anyone who wants one.
The Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club’s noon program on Thursday will be for National Day of Prayer, Elkton Baptist Church will host a service in its sanctuary from 11:30 until noon and the Cadiz service will be noon Thursday at the Trigg County Justice Center. Freeman Chapel CME Church will host a “Prayer on the Lawn” at its facility at 137 South Virginia Street at 5:30 p.m.
