The Hopkinsville Fire Department presented the local Pink Ribbon Network with their largest donation yet, as a part of their pink shirt campaign.
During a presentation Thursday at the fire station on West 1st Street, Chief Freddie Montgomery and Lt. Michael Pendleton presented representatives of the Ribbon Network with a $4,000 check. Ann Isom with the network says the money will stay in the community to assist those struggling with the disease.
She says the Pink Ribbon Network is all about supporting those who have cancer, not just financially but emotionally, with monthly group meetings.
The pink shirt campaign has been going for several years now and during the month of October, the fire department wear the shirts as part of their uniform and many local retailers participated in the campaign by selling shirts. The Pink Ribbon Network is always happy to accept donations.
