Todd, Logan judge works final day, special judge appointed

After 25 years on the bench in Todd and Logan counties, Circuit Judge Tyler Gill held court for the final time Wednesday morning as he enters retirement and a temporary special judge has been appointed.

Judge Gill was elected to district judge in 1993 and then ascended to circuit judge in the 7th circuit.

He recently issued a statement thanking the citizens of Todd and Logan counties who have served when called for jury duty and thanking the court personnel, law enforcement and community leaders he’s worked with over the years.

Judge Gill said his plans for the future are not specific, though he hopes to continue to be of service in other ways.

Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice John Minton has appointed Judge Jill Clark to preside the 7th circuit for at least a month, according to Todd Circuit Court Clerk Mark Cowherd, and that appointment could extend longer. Judge Clark previously presided in district court in Trigg, Lyon, Livingston and Caldwell counties.

Logan County Attorney Joe Ross and Russellville lawyer Joe Hendricks are facing off in November to succeed Judge Gill on the bench.
