A pursuit of an ATV on Ovil Road Wednesday afternoon ended with the arrest of a man for his third DUI and additional charges.
Deputy Charles Fiscella was westbound on Ovil a few minutes after 4 p.m. when he saw an ATV operated by 57-year old Michael Glass swerving from side to side in the eastbound lane.
The deputy turned on his lights and siren and attempted to stop Glass, but Glass allegedly went into the grass and then into a driveway and through a wooded area at a high rate of speed.
He eventually stopped and was taken into custody by Deputy Fiscella, who writes on an arrest citation that Glass had slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol. He refused to take field sobriety tests or to submit to blood or breath tests, claiming he had only consumed two beers.
A computer check showed his license had been suspended twice in the last 10 years for DUI’s.
Glass was charged with his third DUI, fleeing or evading police, driving on a suspended license, and other violations relating to the pursuit.
