Hopkinsville-Christian County Percussion fundraiser to be held Saturday

A new, award-winning percussion group comprised of students from both local high schools is asking for the public to attend a fundraiser this weekend to help them keep going in their efforts.

HCC Percussion has only been around for a little while, but already has a state championship under their belt. Tony Pendleton is an instructor for the initiative and says they merged students into an elite group and brought home the state championship in their first year.

He says they want to keep that momentum going and they’re hosting a pancake breakfast and festival type fundraiser on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Silo Event Center.

Pendleton says tickets are $10 per person and children 12 and under eat for free, and it’s $25 for a festival wristband.

There will also be people dressed as their favorite princesses and superheroes at the festival and attendees are encouraged to do the same. The Christian County Animal Shelter will be there with pets up for adoption and there will also be a silent auction filled with a multitude of items up for bid.  Proceeds will also benefit the Christian County High School and Hopkinsville High School band programs.
