Guthrie man arrested after hit and run

Guthrie police arrested a man on several charges following a hit and run crash late Friday night.

Chief Dean Blumel and Sgt. Kevin Saunders arrived at the scene on North Ewing Street to find a wrecked vehicle belonging to 39-year old Adam Wilkerson of Guthrie in the middle of the road and witnesses said he had fled the scene on foot. They said Wilkerson had been swerving and struck two guard rails before wrecking out.

While police were looking for Wilkerson, dispatch received a call that he was at the front door of his girlfriend’s home on Lizzy Dancy Road attempting to get inside and officers found him near that residence hiding in the bushes, according to the arrest citation, which says he was still wearing the clothing items described by witnesses.

He reportedly admitted to being drunk and registered a blood alcohol content of .137—well over the legal limit.

A woman who had been in the car with Wilkerson said he wouldn’t let her get out and that he intentionally slammed the door on her leg when she was able to exit.

He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, fourth-degree assault—domestic violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance.
