Fire damaged two homes on Shetland Drive in Oak Grove Wednesday.
A resident at 735 Shetland noticed fire coming from an electrical socket and the blaze quickly spread. Oak Grove Fire Department Deputy Chief William Laux arrived to find flames coming from the roof and windy conditions helped the fire spread to the neighboring home at 733 Shetland, despite the best efforts of crews to contain it.
The 735 Shetland home was a total loss and 733 Shetland sustained heavy damage to the attic area and to two rooms. Both families were displaced and the Red Cross was called to assist.
A female resident at 735 Shetland was treated by EMS for smoke inhalation, but did not require a trip to the hospital.
Firefighters from Fort Campbell, Herndon and Pembroke assisted.
