Another 500 Fort Campbell soldiers returning home this week

More than 500 Fort Campbell soldiers will return home this week following a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.

Welcome home ceremonies are set for Tuesday morning and Saturday afternoon for members of “Task Force Destiny,” 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, and “Task Force EOD,” 732nd Ordnance Company, 184th Ordnance Battalion, 52nd Ordnance Group.

Post officials say that during their deployment, the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade provided aviation support to U.S., coalition and Afghan forces throughout the Combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan.

Task Force Destiny exceeded 50,000 flight hours, transporting more than seven million pounds of cargo and 91,000 passengers, and conducting 1,700 security missions and 256 air assault operations. Additionally, five Soldiers received the Distinguished Flying Cross for their heroism and valor.

Soldiers of the 732nd Ordnance Company provided explosive ordnance disposal support to Task Force Southeast in Southeastern Afghanistan.
