Man charged with third DUI following Boulevard crash

A Hopkinsville man is facing his third-offense DUI charge following a wreck with injuries in the 9000 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard Sunday morning.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to the area of I-24 and Fort Campbell Boulevard for reports of a possible DUI driver. While on the way, an officer observed a vehicle driven by 30-year old Charles Motley of Hopkinsville allegedly swerving in and out of its lane of travel.

Motley reportedly swerved into the median, travelled across the roadway and impacted a tree before coming to a stop against a second tree. He allegedly told officers he had fallen asleep behind the wheel and woke up after the collision.  The report says Motley had notable bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

He allegedly told officers he had been working long hours and had consumed some alcohol before the incident. He was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of multiple, non-life threatening injuries.

Motley was arrested and charged with third-offense DUI and driving on a DUI suspended license.
