Everything should be a go for the trial of Dorien Meullion, the man charged with murder for the October, 2016 shooting death of Tarone Williams on East Ninth Street.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Lynn Pryor told Judge John Atkins Wednesday that she would be turning over the last pieces of evidence to the defense this week and doesn’t believe there is anything that would hinder them from going to trial on October 15th.
In other court news from Wednesday morning, Mary Shreves was sentenced to eight years in prison for Medicaid and food stamp fraud. She was convicted of obtaining over $500,000 in state benefits through fraud. Judge Atkins allowed her 30 days to address some medical issues before she turns herself in to be incarcerated.
Judge Atkins called it the largest such case of benefits fraud he’s seen in his career.
