Two Clarksville men have been charged in a string of armed bank robberies that occurred throughout Kentucky and Clarksville.
According to a news release from the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, two of the robberies occurred in Hopkins County, one in Morton’s Gap in February and the other in Hanson in March. Both places robbed were US Bank branches where the suspect was described as dressed in black clothing, with a face covering and a backpack.
Investigation determined those robberies were very similar to other robberies that had taken place across the state. Seven months of investigation has led to the arrests of 26-year old Jayson Collier of Clarksville and 27-year old Qwentin Banks of Clarksville, who are lodged in the Montgomery County Jail.
Collier and Banks are both charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and its likely further charges will follow from other law enforcement agencies. The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by multiple agencies from Kentucky and Tennessee, along with federal agencies.
