Flu season is quickly approaching and several health agencies in Kentucky have kicked off a ‘Focus on the Flu’ campaign.
Public health directors from across Kentucky were in Frankfort in a ceremony that was streamed by the Todd County Health Department on Facebook.
The Kentucky Medical Association, Kentucky Foundation for Medical Care and Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky launched their campaign to minimize the impact of flu in the upcoming season.
Ben Chandler is the president and CEO of the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky and says their goal is to prevent another flu epidemic that the Commonwealth experienced last year.
He says flu shots work and even if you get the flu after receiving a shot, your symptoms will be lessened.
Chandler says over 300 Kentuckians lost their lives to the flu last year.
