Summer Salute gets underway in downtown Hopkinsville Friday and a favorable weather forecast combined with a solid lineup of music and activities should mean large crowds.
Chris Jung with the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department says last year’s eclipse weekend helped Summer Salute become Hopkinsville’s largest annual festival.
Vendor booths open at 10 a.m. Friday and Jung encourages anyone who can to spend their lunch break downtown.
This month’s Fridays at Five event on Founders Square will coincide with Summer Salute and fits nicely with the festival’s music theme.
Sawyer Brown will headline the festival Saturday night at 7 in a free concert in front of the Christian County Justice Center.
East Ninth Street will be closed from Main to Seventh beginning 5 p.m. Thursday and lasting through Saturday night.
