Two men were arrested on drug charges following an investigation near North Fowler Avenue and McPherson Street.
Hopkinsville Police received a report of two men using drugs in a field near the back of Christian County Middle School and Officer Gary Hicks located 50-year old James Stewart of Hopkinsville and 27-year old Shane Stroup of Oak Grove.
An arrest citation says Stewart began reaching into his pants pocket and attempted to hide something under his leg.
Police say Stroup was under the influence of a substance and appeared to be digging a hole in the ground with his fingers.
A search allegedly revealed a bag of synthetic marijuana and a box cutter on Stewart’s person and a search at the jail turned up more synthetic drugs in his sock.
Stroup allegedly had synthetic marijuana and a pipe on his person.
Both were arrested for possession of synthetic drugs and Stroup was charged with public intoxication.
Stewart is also charged with tampering with evidence, promoting contraband and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
