Allensville woman arrested for theft of teacher’s cell phone

A Todd County woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing a cell phone at Logan County High School.

Logan County deputies received a call Friday afternoon that a teacher’s phone had been stolen and video surveillance recording showed it had been dropped and was lying the ground near the school’s gymnasium.

Police say 39-year old Regina Beard of Allensville had been at the school registering her 16-year old son for the upcoming school year when her 11-year old son pointed to the phone on the ground. Beard bent over and picked it up and she called her 11-year old back to her when he started to go back inside the school to report the phone was located.

She reportedly later admitted to deputies that she had taken the phone and given it to her 16-year old son, who was in Russellville. He was located and he returned the phone to Deputy Jason Brent.

The SIM card was missing, but it was otherwise undamaged.

Beard was arrested and charged with felony theft, tampering with evidence and violation of a domestic violence order.

The 16-year old was charged with receiving stolen property, tampering with evidence and resisting arrest.
