Hanson Elementary School in Hopkins County was placed on lockdown Monday morning after a robbery at the US Bank in Hanson.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department confirmed in a news release that a male suspect entered the bank around 10:22 a.m. and brandished a handgun, demanding money. He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last seen wearing dark pants, a dark colored hoody and was wearing a bandana over his face.
He is described as standing around 5’8 and no other details were immediately available. Anyone with information is asked to call 270-821-5661.
A social media statement from the Hopkins County School System said students at Hanson Elementary were sheltering in place after the incident and that law enforcement was in the building as a precautionary measure.
