Madisonville Police arrested a man Wednesday morning who allegedly had a stolen assault rifle in his possession.
Officers went to 118 South Franklin Street about 11:30 a.m. to locate 18-year old Quaray Hamlett of that address, who was wanted on a felony receiving stolen property warrant. A news release says the homeowner said Hamlett was there and Hamlett was then observed coming out of a second story window with an assault rifle.
He was told to lay the gun down, but reentered the house through a broken window.
Officers were soon able to take him into custody and a search warrant was executed, with police finding the rifle that had been stolen during a car break-in on Bishop Street in Madisonville.
Hamlett was served with the original warrant and charged with an additional count of receiving a stolen firearm.
